Here are the results of my little trial of a couple of options for binding buffers, I extracted from whole insects using this protocol. It looks like the RNAse may have been a bit off (high 260/280 and RNA smear at bottom of gel), but I can't see any difference between the three homemade buffers and the commercial one!
